Located in the central high Atlas culminating at 4068 m, it is the wildest and most massive range of the High Atlas. You will be surprised by the diversity of its landscape, its colors, its rock formations, its gorges, its gigantic canyons and its high green plateaus 3000 m. Ascent of the Djebel Mgoun 4068m Morocco’s 2nd highest range.

6 Days, 3 & 1/2 Days trek, Period: Spring / Summer / Autumn, Level: Sportive

Assistance : A hike of six days of walking to climbing the M’goun beginning with the city of Azilal and Bougmez Valley « Happy Valley », passing through the village of Timite and the Kasbah of Talwane, before arriving in Tarkeddit plateau at the foot of M’goun where we meet nomads who in summer transhumance with their herds (goats, sheep, camels).

Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech

Welcome in the Marrakesh Menara Airport. First contact with Morocco, its colors, its friendly people and its atmosphere. Transfer to the hotel.

Day 2 : Marrakech – Azilal – Ait Bouguemez / 5h30 road transfer / 2h00 walk

Depart 8H towards Azilal, mountain city par excellence, it provides access to a dazzling decorated nature and majestic mountains. Along the way, we will enjoy the beautiful scenery that characterizes the central high atlas and the valley Bouguemez “Happy Valley”. Then free ride through the houses and fields of the village Timite.

Day 3 : Ait Bouguemez – Afra / 7h00 trekking / Altitude, gain: 1600m; loss: 400m

Stop tour of the casbah Talwate, appointment with our team of mule to the pass of Tichka, lunch, afternoon departure to Afra 2 hours walk, bivouac at 2000m.

Day 4 : Mgoun Base Camp – Mgoun – Tarkeddit / 9h00 trekking / Altitude, gain: 1200m; loss: 1260m

A beautiful climb gently until Tarkeddit (3450m), a beautiful area frequented by nomads with their herds. Panoramic view of the vast North Slope M’goun Massif and the surrounding mountains.

Day 5 : Tarkeddit – Bouguemez – Marrakech / 5h30 trekking / Altitude, gain: 550m; loss: 1300m

Discover the happy valley of Ait Bougmez where we go through the Berber villages of the valley of Arous and AIt Said where our superb trek ends. After farewell to our muleteer team and the Atlas Mountains, we take our minibus back to Marrakech. We reach our hotel at the end of the day, overnight in a Riad in the médina, (B, L, D).

Day 6 : Return Flight

Depend on your flight schedule, a transfer is organised for you to take to return flight.
